Sabrang is an organisation that seeks to demystify the classical arts. Towards the end, various modules on the appreciation of classical music, classical dance, opera, design amongst others have evolved.

This module is called The Baroque, Classical and_ Romantic Periods in which 300 years of art history are examined i.e. from 1600-1900 and establish the mindset of the creative artist in the plastic arts like painting, architecture as well as that of the musician.

The workshop will show how philosophical and social changes affect the artist. Scientific discoveries and their aftermath on society, the church, and the artist will be examined. An attempt to prove that Bach was to music what Bernini was to architecture and sculpture in the Baroque period; that Goya was to the canvas what Mozart was to sound in the Classical period and that Degas, Monet, Manet & Renoir were the artistic counterparts of Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky in the Romantic period.

An attempt will also be made to link these mindsets to Indian conditions. Apart from giving insights into their mindsets mini-biographies of the great composers who are symbols of their respective age namely Bach, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky, will be presented.
