The film “As the Crow Flies” is an aesthetic exploration of the works of the eminent painter, Akbar Padamsee. Directed by the celebrated filmmaker, Kumar Shahani, the program will focus on the relationship between Art and Cinema. Akbar Padamsee and Kumar Shahani are friends who share concerns in art, aesthetics and philosophy, particularly those that emerge from Indian, Chinese, French and other cultures.

The film, reveals some central moments in thought processes that occur in the life of a Padamsee painting and the cinematic vision of Shahani’s work. Shahani converses with Padamsee, with city sounds, the music of Gnan, and images that spiral into cocoon-like structures of meditative space.

The director, Kumar Shahani, the artist, Akbar Padamsee and the cinematographer, K.K. Mahajan will participate in a panel discussion after the screening of the film. The discussion will be moderated by the noted painter, Sudhir Patwardhan.

The film has been produced by the Pundole Art Gallery, Mumbai and the panel discussion invites the participation of the audience.
