Nalini Malani, the well-known artist has directed two video films based on her recent work.

“City of Desires” a site-specific project, painted directly into the walls of Gallery Chemould (Bombay) in May 1992 evolved from a rootedness in the past – a tradition of painting all over the walls and ceilings of homes, palaces and temples so that one is enfolded by an unraveling of images. After 15 days, the gallery was white-washed and the images wiped out in an act of obliteration that drew angry attention to the devastation of the splendid 19th century Nathadwara frescoes by neglect and vandalism.
